San Bernardino Assault Lawyer and Attorney

When you need an assault lawyer willing to stand up for your rights, and an assault attorney with a comprehensive understanding of the law, contact the Southern California Legal Group, proudly representing clients in San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange County, and all surrounding areas.

Assault and battery are commonly related charges. When one intentionally threatens and puts another in fear of imminent harm, it is considered assault. If physical contact is made with the victim, it is considered a battery. At the Southern California Legal Group, we represent clients on a wide range of misdemeanor and felony assault and battery charges, including:

Penal Code 241 deals with misdemeanor assault and requires that an individual unlawfully attempt, and be able to inflict, violent injury upon another. This charge carries the potential for up to 6 months in county jail.

Penal Code 242/243(a) deal with battery and require the intentional and unlawful use of force against another. Like Penal Code 241, this section is a misdemeanor and carries a maximum punishment of 6 months in county jail.

Penal Code 245 covers a wide range of actions for assault with a deadly weapon or instrument. While certain defendants may be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to 1 year in county jail, depending on the weapon used, the maximum punishment in state prison could be up to 4 years (deadly weapons), 9 years (semiautomatic firearms) or even 12 years (machine guns).
